Project statement

Traces of an
industrial absence

The Lost Places documents a decommissioned chemical factory through two photographic series made on black-and-white film.

Once defined by production, routine and human presence, the abandoned factory now exists as a space suspended between memory and disappearance. Empty rooms, corroded structures and surfaces fractured by time preserve the material traces of an industrial history that has withdrawn from view.

The first series approaches the factory through its interior spaces. Residual light enters through damaged windows and moves across walls, work surfaces and objects left behind, revealing a silent architecture shaped by absence.

The second series turns towards fragments and surfaces. Peeling paint, cracks and accumulated layers become an abstract vocabulary through which deterioration is transformed into image. Together, the two sequences examine how photography can preserve what is disappearing while acknowledging the impossibility of restoring the place itself.
