Where two
moments meet

A landscape can hold more than one memory. In Alternative Reality, two exposures inhabit the same frame of colour film, allowing separate places and instants to become a single image.

Hills, fields, water and fragments of sky pass through one another. Familiar views become uncertain: a horizon continues into another horizon, while colour shifts the boundary between what was seen and what is imagined. The double exposure does not erase either scene; it gives each one a new relationship to the other.

Made in camera on film, these photographs leave room for anticipation and accident. The result is a series of layered landscapes in which the physical world briefly appears to follow a different logic.
